Peripheral Vascular Pearls
1. ABI > 1 is normal.
2. Proximal thigh pressure should be 30-50 mmHg above brachial-if not may mean inflow (aorto-iliac disease).
3. Pressure drop of >20-30mmHg between segments suggests stenosis.
4. PVR tracings. Look for flattening-see attached diagram.
5. Very high pressures throughout may indicate non-compressibilty of vessels-diabetics.
6. Pressures should be similar on both sides.
